I'm pleased to welcome Sally Beamish as she joins James Joslin Music Management for promotion of her music worldwide from July.
Having previously represented Beamish between 2015 and 2021 following her signing to Edition Peters whilst I was in post as Promotion Manager, this collaboration promises to continue from the successes which saw more than 50 new commissions including two ballets (The Tempest and The Little Mermaid) and her three piano concerti.
Beamish's most recent ballet, A Christmas Carol, delighted audiences last December at Finnish National ballet with a run of 17 performances. Based on the Dickens novel, it is the second ballet that Beamish has created with choreographer David Bintley, following The Tempest with Birmingham Royal Ballet in 2016.
DISTANS – a double concerto for violin, clarinet and orchestra – was another work developed during our time together at Edition Peters. Commissioned by the Concertgebouworkest, Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra and Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, the concerto now receives its UK premiere at the Barbican Centre on 20 June 2024 with Janine Jansen, Martin Fröst and the LSO, conducted by Gianandrea Noseda. I invite you to join us at the performance and to witness these two world-renowned soloists perform Beamish's music.
A recent recipient of PRS Foundation's Women Make Music grant, Sally will be recording her recent viola music (and music she has commissioned herself for the instrument) for the Delphian label to coincide with her 70th birthday. The commissioned works included pieces from some of the musicians significant in her life, including her three children, who are composers in the genres of metal, pop and folk respectively.
Beamish's music is published by Edition Peters (Wise Music), Norsk Musikforlag and the Scottish Music Centre, and has been widely recorded. Get in touch for further information about her work and to discuss programming possibilities.
